ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have placed left-handed pitcher Brian Fuentes on the restricted list after Fuentes informed the team that he needed to step away from the game due to personal reasons.
The Cardinals have recalled right-handed reliever Trevor Rosenthal from Memphis (AAA) and he will be in uniform for tonight’s series opener against Arizona.
Rosenthal, 22, was 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in four games (4.0 IP) with the Cardinals last month after making his Major League debut on July 18. He made two starts for Memphis following his option on August 1 and struck out 13 batters in 10.0 IP.
Fuentes, signed as a minor league free agent last month, appeared in six games for the Cardinals, totaling 5.0 IP.
