EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) – Police in East St. Louis are investigating the shooting of a 35-year-old man who became the city’s 14th homicide victim this year.

Officials say Rapp Chairs was killed Monday when a white SUV pulled alongside his friend’s car and the occupants opened fire, striking Chairs multiple times. Police Chief Michael Floore says the friend fled to the East St. Louis police station, where Chairs was pronounced dead.

There’s no word about any arrests. Illinois State Police are helping with the investigation.
