ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Hundreds of people showed up at a North St. Louis Church thinking they were getting $500 in food vouchers, but instead got nothing but a long wait in line before police finally shut down the operation.
They had gathered at St. Louis Powerhouse Church because a worker at the church told them he’d contracted with a company that offered the food vouchers in exchange for applications for debit cards.
It turns out, those who thought they were getting a $500 voucher, had to put up $500 of their own money.
Police shut down the operation saying it had no permit.
