Edwardsville School Board, Teachers to Talk Again

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – Edwardsville teachers and the school board are going to get back together to talk.

Monday night there was an apparent impasse with the board saying it had given it’s final offer and there would be no movement.

But, now it has been announced that teachers and the board would meet again Thursday evening at Hadley House at 5 p.m.

Parents who packed an Edwardsville School board meeting Monday are optimistic that the board may be willing to discuss class size.

The board has previously taken a stand saying it would remove a cap on class sizes, giving the district the right to increase class size.   Parents packed the meeting opposed to such a move.

Teachers have voted to authorize a strike but have not set a date.  School started Wednesday in Edwardsville.

Edwardsville Education Association Co-President David Boedeker confirmed to KMOX News that the two sides were going back to the table Thursday evening but would have no further comment.
