CLAYTON, MO (KMOX)-The Chesterfield man who admitted being drunk when he caused the accident that killed a Whitfield School teacher just under a year ago, has been sentenced to one year in jail and five years probation.

The judge also ordered Patrick McCormick to wear a alcohol-monitoring device for a year after he gets out of jail.

McCormick pleaded guilty in June to involuntary manslaughter and assault.

50 year-old Janet Esrock was killed and her 16-year-old son was injured when McCormick’s SUV hit their car head-on on Wildhorse Creek Road.
