HAZELWOOD, Mo. (AP) – A St. Louis County child care center is cited with safety violations after a 4-year-old was briefly left at a park during a field trip.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that operators of Spirit and Truth Preschool and Daycare in Hazelwood were cited for a July 17 trip to a water play area in Musick Park. Parent Duane McCann complained to regulators after his daughter, McKenzie, was accidentally left at the park for about 10 minutes.
State regulators found that the child care staff failed to do a proper head count and had also exceeded passenger occupancy limits on two passenger vans used for the trip.
A pastor for the church affiliated with the child care center says the employee responsible for the mistake was fired.
