View Comments

The Amtrak Texas Eagle passenger train that connects Chicago with Texas and passes through St. Louis now has its own podcast.

The new interpretive tour of the Texas Eagle line allows riders to listen to a history of the route while they travel.

The podcast is a joint project of Amtrak, the National Park Service and Texas A&M University.

The podcast covers the 1,300-mile route and is available free.  It can be downloaded before boarding the train.

The information highlights more than 100 points of interest on the route between Chicago, St. Louis and San Antonio.

Topics range from Illinois farmland to the Chisholm Trail in Central Texas and include several sections on the St. Louis area.

You can find the podcast at:  Amtrak.com.  Once you’re there, just enter “Texas Eagle” in the Amtrak search box.
