MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOX) — A major water main break in Maryland Heights is forcing a road closure and a school to dismiss early.
Officials at McKelvey Elementary say students will be dismissed today at 12:15 p.m. All after school activities at the school are canceled, including after school child care services. Buses will pick up students and drop them off at their normal bus stops.
Maryland Heights police say the break is on McKelvey Road south of Dorsett. That road is closed. Drivers should avoid McKelvey between Dorsett and Red Coat Drive until further notice.
The 20-inch main ruptured Monday around 8:30 a.m.
