A Prayer That Stretches To Both Sides Of The Aisle

TAMPA, Fla. (KMOX) –  New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, a St. Louis native, will now offer the benediction at both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.

New York Archdiocesan spokesman Joseph Zwilling said Democrats have now accepted Cardinal Dolan’s invitation, which he made right after okayed offering up a prayer at this week’s RNC in Tampa Florida.

“He conveyed to the Democratic National Committee that he had been invited by the  Republicans to offer the closing prayer, that he was going but not in a partisan way and that he would be open to an invitation from the Democrats should they wish to invite him as well,” Zwilling told KMOX Religion Editor Fred Bodimer.

And so they have.

You can now expect to see Cardinal Dolan on stage this Thursday night offering the benediction at the close of the GOP convention in Tampa, and then again next week as the Democrat convention wraps up in Charlotte, North Carolina.
