Amish Man Killed When Buggy Hit by Truck in Missouri

CANTON, Mo. (AP) — A northeast Missouri Amish man died after his horse and buggy was hit by a truck.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 42-year-old Chris Yoder of Canton died after the accident Thursday on U.S. 61 south of Canton.

The patrol says a utility truck tried to merge into an exit lane and hit the back end of the buggy.

Yoder was thrown from the buggy and died later at a Quincy, Ill., hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The horse also died in the accident.
