Brothers Charged in Death of University City Teen

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (AP) — Two brothers are now facing charges in the June death of a teenage girl in University City.

Seventeen-year-old Destinee Clemons was killed as she sat with relatives on her front porch. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 17-year-old Jared Bowers and 20-year-old Jeremy Bowers of University City are each charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Destinee’s mother told the newspaper that a red car slowed to a stop in front of the house and two occupants of the car fired several shots. Destinee’s sister was struck in the arm but survived.

The brothers are jailed on $1 million bond each.
