Storms Leave Trail Of Downed Trees, Power Lines

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ill. (KMOX) —Severe storms that prompted a tornado warning left some damage in Montgomery, Macoupin and Bond Counties in Illinois.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm that roared through Montgomery and Macoupin Counties contained winds of up to 60 miles an hour.

Trees are down in Nilwood. Staunton, Hillsboro and Girard in Macoupin County. In Montgomery County, there are trees and power lines down in Litchfield and trees down in Witt.

Authorities in Bond County reported trees down on roadways, including a large oak across Highway 140 at Mulberry Grove.

Top winds on the Missouri side hit 48 miles per hour in St. Charles County.

So far there are no reports of structural damage or injuries.
