Woman Lied About Being Punched by Police Impersonator in Clayton

CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) — Clayton Police say a woman who claimed she was assaulted by a police impersonator has now recanted her story.

Wednesday morning, the woman claimed a man dressed as a police officer pulled her over along Polo Drive in Clayton and the punched her.

Authorities say after re interviewing her, there were inconsistencies with the story.

Police say the woman told them it did not happen, but did not say why she lied.

Clayton Police have now turned the case over to the St. Louis County Prosecutor. Bob McCulloch will then determine if charges will be filed.
