Motorcycle Accident Kills Wood River Man

JERSEY COUNTY, IL (KMOX) – Illinois State Police say a man was speeding and not wearing a helmet when he crashed his motorcycle into the back of another car, killing himself and seriously injuring another passenger.

28-year-old Randy Pate Jr. was travelling down Route 100 in Jersey County around 6:30 last night when he rear-ended a vehicle which was changing lanes.

Pate was pronounced dead at the scene and a 36-year-old passenger was airlifted to St. Johns Mercy hospital.

Police say neither victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
