ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) –  Two people are in custody after a brief chase ended in a crash in St. Charles Wednesday night.

It began about 7 pm during a traffic stop, in which the driver gave an officer a false name, then sped away as the arresting officer waited for backup to arrive.

The suspect led police on a brief chase before passing through two homes before crashing into a creek near Muegge Rd. and Hackman Rd.

The man, later identified as 21-year-old Travis A. McClure of St. Peters, was found hiding in a culvert a short distance away.

He’s now being held pending warrant application on charges of resisting arrest by fleeing, driving while revoked/suspended, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McClure’s girlfriend, a passenger in the car, was arrested for aiding McClure in his attempted false identification to police.

She’s identified as 19-year-old Victoria Knight of St. Louis.
