ST. CLAIR COUNTY, IL (KMOX) - The May crash that killed a highway worker in a construction zone on Interstate 64 in St. Clair County results in charges today.
St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly has charged Michael Jeter of West Frankfort, Illinois with several counts.
“The criminal complaint alleges the defendant was under the influence of diphenhydramine, which is an antihistamine, a sedative, and zolpidem, which is the chemical name for Ambien,” Kelly said.
Kelly declined to comment on why the driver had those three drugs in his system. The judge set bond for Jeter at $750,000.
