The world’s largest cross, in Effingham, IL
BRANSON, MO (KMOX) – Earlier this summer, KMOX told you about a group in Branson aiming to build the world’s largest cross. That group is now looking for big name donors to finsh the project.
Images at the Cross Executive Director Kerry Brown says small fundraising efforts have been successful so far, but to speed the project up, he would like to get some larger corporate donors.
“Now it’s time to really turn and say, ‘OK, we need to find the captains of industry, the captains of corporations,’” Brown said. “Since we’re a 501c3, that’s a big thing for them.”
He says his first meeting to secure some of those donors is in October.
The cross will be the world’s largest, one foot taller than the cross in Effingham, Illinois.
It’ll be on top of a mountain that’s one hundred feet taller than the highway that runs along side it, Route 65.
