CHESTER, IL (KMOX)-The family of Sheri Coleman is again seeking to have her body, and those of her children Garett and Gavin, moved from a Chester cemetery to one closer to their Chicago area home.
In a motion filed this morning in Randolph County, the family’s attorney argues that since he has been convicted of killing Sheri and his sons, Christopher Coleman no longer has a right to decide where his wife and children should be buried, and because of his conviction, his parents have also lost that right.
Sheri, Garett and Gavin are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
Sheri’s mother and brother want their bodies moved to Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Cook County.
Chris’ father Ron Coleman tells KMOX that Chris knows he’s innocent and until the appeals of his conviction are over, he wants their bodies to remain in his hometown of Chester. Ron says he understands how Sheri’s family feels, but Garett and Gavin are his grandchildren too.
Ron Coleman does say that if he loses his appeals, Chris will not object to the move.
