FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOX) - A woman was able to give police the slip once, but her luck ran out the second time.
It began Sunday night when police in Fairview Heights started chasing a driver who sped away from a traffic stop near the Metro station, after a K-9 unit indicated the presence of drugs in her car.
The woman led police on a high-speed chase on Route 161, the Frank Scott Parkway and West Main in Belleville before officers finally gave up.
Several hours later, another squad car spotted the same woman driving in Fairview Heights and tried to stop her but once again she took off.
The woman, a 37-year-old O’Fallon Illinois resident, was finally taken into custody after police deployed spike strips.
She faces charges of drug possession and aggravated fleeing.
Her name has not been released.
