Work Will Shut Down One Lane Of The McKinley Bridge Tuesday

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KMOX) –  Here’s a heads-up for Illinois drivers whose morning commute normally includes the McKinley Bridge.

Tim Krumm, bridge maintenance engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) says one lane of the bridge will be shut down for several hours late Tuesday morning as part of a routine inspection.

“Thing is, there’s only two lanes there,” Krumm points out. “So our equipment will be set up in the westbound lane and the flaggers are going to have to stop traffic and just let one direction go at a time.”

He urges drivers to pay close attention and use extreme caution in the workzone.

Work on the McKinley’s scheduled to start at 9 am and should wrap up by noon.

Drivers who can use other routes to cross the Mississippi River during that time are urged to do so.
