UPDATE: One Dead in St. Peters Crash
ST. PETERS (KMOX) - At least one person is dead and several injured after an early-morning crash in St. Peters.
Four cars were involved in the crash at 6:15 this morning at Salt River Road and Mid Rivers Mall Drive, where a white 2004 Monte Carlo struck three other vehicles.
Police say a the Monte Carlo was travelling westbound on Salt River Road when it crossed the center line for an unknown reason, and clipped a Chevy Trailblazer travelling eastbound.
The Monte Carlo then struck a pick-up truck causing the truck to rollover. The Monte Carlo then struck a third car.
The driver of the Monte Carlo, 27-year-old Jeffrey Conway of Florissant, was transported by ambulance to Barnes St. Peters and pronounced dead. The first two victims were taken to the hospital and released with minor injuries. The third victim, Dan Ayres of Crystal Lake, Illinois was airlifted to Mercy Hospital. He is in serious, but stable condition.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation but drugs or alcohol are not suspected, according to police.
Traffic Accident Reconstruction Officers are still at the scene and Salt River Road is closed while they investigate the scene.
