Special Board Meeting Scheduled Regarding Isom’s Departure

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — The Board of Police Commissioners will hold a special board meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) morning regarding the process of selecting a new St. Louis police chief.

On Monday St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom announced he will be leaving the St. Louis Police department for a new job at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Isom holds three degrees from UMSL, including a doctorate in criminology and criminal justice.

Isom will be retiring on January 1, 2013.

State law requires the St. Louis police chief be selected from within the department among the ranks of captain or above.
