EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) Authorities say they’ve identified the man killed by a hit-and-run driver in East St. Louis as 48-year-old Orlando Wilson. Investigators say the East St. Louis man was struck and killed Wednesday night by a Jeep Cherokee that fled. Wilson died at the scene, less than a mile from his home.
Authorities say they found the Jeep blocks away with a passenger still inside, then located the driver after his mother urged him to
turn himself in. Wilson’s mother, Gail Edwards, says her son was walking to the commuter train station on his way to his girlfriend’s Belleville home when he was hit.
There’s no word yet on any charges.
