ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - St. Louis County Police have connected DNA evidence linking two separate rapes and tonight you have the opportunity to hear where the investigation stands.
St. Louis County Police Officer Randy Vaughn says there is a forensic link between the two rapes. The first took place in April, 2011 and the second, just last month.
“We’re really taking it as, worst case scenario, there is always the possibility that this could continue until this person is caught,” Vaughn said.
In both rapes, the women were of Asian decent. Similar incidents have been reported nationwide.
“We have not made forensic links to-date with any other cases anywhere else, but the investigation is certainly looking into that,” Vaughn said.
Tonight, Police Chief Tim Fitch will address community concerns at Parkway North High School beginning at 6 o’clock. Immediately following, there will be a safety seminar on rape prevention.
