A St. Louis County police department employee was murdered before her apartment was set on fire.
That’s the report from county police who say 51-year-old Diedre Exum died of blunt force trauma. In other words, she was beaten to death.
Police found evidence of forced entry and say Exum was killed before the fire.
Firefighters found her body inside her burned-out apartment in Spanish Lake Friday afternoon.
Police are asking that anyone with information on the case call 889-2341.
Homicide detectives are handling the investigation.
Exum was a security guard for the department and worked at the court house and county government center for the past four years.
