Missouri Security Guard Found Dead in Burning Home

ST. LOUIS (AP) – Police say a 51-year-old armed security guard with the St. Louis County Police Department whose body was found inside her burning home is a homicide victim.

Dierdre Exum was found Friday by firefighters who forced their way into her home after responding to a blaze there.

Investigators have determined she died of blunt force trauma. Bomb and arson crews worked into the weekend trying to figure out what caused the fire and Exum’s death.

A woman who lived near Exum says she was a friendly neighbor who often walked around at night with her dog.

The neighbor did not want to be identified because she was worried that whoever killed Exum could still be at large.
