Belleville Man Sentenced On Child Porn Charges

BELLEVILLE, IL (KMOX) – A Belleville man has been sentenced to more than a dozen years in prison on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

The investigation into Garold Semelka, 62, began last June when KMOX reported that he was arrested as part of the first phase of Illinois’ “Operation Glass House.”

Investigators raided the home of the then 61-year-old on June 13 and charged him with 10 counts of possessing aggravated child pornography. One charge stated that Semelka had a video of a girl under 13 performing sexual acts.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan said at the time that the video was traded more than 300,000 times, with almost 1,000 of those in the state of Illinois.

Today, Semelka was sentenced in federal court to 151 months in prison for receipt of child pornography and 151 months for receipt of child pornography, with the two running concurrently.
