Ghosts or Lynchings? Complaints Prompt Zoo To Remove Ghosts From Trees

ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-Some changes are being made to the Halloween decorations at the St. Louis Zoo, because some people didn’t see the ghosts hanging in trees as friendly.
Spokeswoman Susan Gallagher tells KMOX the ten ghosts installed by contractors looked great at night, “They fluttered in the breeze and they had lots of drapings.”
But in the daytime visitors could see the black faces on the hooded objects hanging from strings and some thought they looked like lynchings.
Gallagher says while compliments and complaints ran about 50/50, the zoo decided to take them down, “We want everyone to feel comfortable here and not be offended by anything we would put up although, of course, no offense was intended.”
