WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) -  When is a robbery victim not a robbery victim?

When it turns out he was in on the whole thing.

Police in Wentzville are reporting an incident that happened Monday in the 400 block of Wilson Street.

They say 18-year-old Joseph French stayed in the home overnight and later welcomed three others, two men and a woman, inside and directed them down to the basement.

Later when the doorbell rang French answered and let two armed men into the home, also sending them down to the basement where the intruders announced a robbery.

When one of the male victims tried to resist he was struck on the head several times with the butt of a gun.

In the end the assailants made off with $40 in cash.

They remain at large.

But police later caught up with French and charged him with one count of 1st degree robbery and two counts of attempted robbery.

He’s being held on $50,000 cash bond.
