ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – An explicit tweet from a consultant for Rep. Todd Akin’s campaign has people talking this afternoon.
“If Claire McCaskill were a dog, she’d be a ‘Bullshitsu,'” reads the tweet from Rick Tyler (@rickwtyler), a senior aide just after noon today.
“Frankly, we’re speechless,” Sen. Claire McCaskill spokesperson Caitlin Legacki tells KMOX, in response to Tyler’s comments. “And very curious to know whether Todd Akin agrees with that comment.”
“We’ll leave it to Missouri’s voters to make judgements about the language being used by Todd Akin’s campaign,” she added.
Rick Tyler, speaking exclusively to KMOX News this afternoon, said the tweet “was intended to be a joke, it was intended to be funny.”
Tyler’s comments come in response to Rep. Akin’s comments over the weekend that McCaskill is like a “dog” who “fetches” problems, then brings them back to Missouri.
“She goes to Washington, D.C., it’s a little bit like one of those dogs, you know ‘fetch,'” Akin said Saturday. “She goes to Washington, D.C., and get all of these taxes and red tape and bureaucracy and executive orders and agencies and she brings all of this stuff and dumps it on us in Missouri.”
