Ben Affleck’s new film “Argo,” in which he stars and directs, stayed a hot ticket this weekend based on great reviews from the people who really count, the paying customers. “Argo” took in $12.4 million and has sold $60.8 million in just two weeks.
In second spot over the weekend was the likeable animated movie with an outstanding vocal cast, “Hotel Transylvania.” It took in $9.5 million giving a grand total of $130.4 million for 5 weeks in release.
The new film “Cloud Atlas” proved that even headliners like Tom Hanks can’t guarantee big opening dollars. It took in a lowly $9.4 million giving it third place its opening weekend. “Paranormal Activity 4″ came in fourth with $8.7 million.
In fifth spot over the weekend in its first week in release was “Silent Hill 3D” with $8 million. For more details on all the weekend box office statistics, click on the link below.
Opening next weekend is yet another animated film with an all-star vocal cast, “Wreck-It Ralph.” Appropriately enough, it’s about cartoon characters.
