ST. CHARLES, MO (KMOX)- As MoDOT prepares for a major overhaul of the Blanchette Bridge, St. Charles city officials are bracing for the impact.
On Monday, November 5, crews will shut down the westbound side of the bridge and move all traffic to the eastbound lanes, reducing traffic to three lanes in each in direction for the next year.
Mayor Sally Faith says the city has been preparing for the project for over a year and while city leaders don’t know for sure what they impact it’ll have, they’re ready for whatever comes their way, ‘We’ve got a map on our St. Charles webpage if you want to know how to get to where you need to go. But, generally, we are very fortunate, the city of St. Charles and the county, that we have (highways) 370 and 364.”

There is concern the closure could reduce the city’s revenues from the Ameristar Casino. In formulating the city’s 2013 budget, Faith is including a $2 million reduction in revenues from the Ameristar Casino, “We’ve budgeted for a reduction in income…but it’s a guesstimate so no one knows.”
