Missouri Treasurer Clint Zweifel (UPI/Bill Greenblatt)
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - In what was predicted by some to be one of the closest races in Missouri, Democratic State Treasurer Clint Zweifel defeated Republican state Rep. Cole McNary.
Although the candidates raised similar amounts of money during the quarterly reporting period, Zweifel started with a substantially larger base and had nearly $1.3 remaining in his campaign account at the beginning of October, compared with $161,000 for McNary.
Zweifel spent the campaign touting successes over the past four years and asking for another term while McNary, the son of former St. Louis County Executive Gene McNary, argued he could do better.
Also on the ballot was Libertarian Sean O’Toole.
