ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Homicide detectives and accident reconstruction crews are at work this morning in north St. Louis, trying to piece together a series of events that led to two car crashes and left one person dead.
It began, according to police, when a Dodge Charger was carjacked by a suspect carrying a shotgun at Liberty Landing Drive shortly after midnight. The driver of that car remains at large after it crashed at Kingshighway and Lexington.
A second car, a dark Chevy Malibu, crashed at West Florissant and Mimika when it hit a building. The 20-year-old driver was taken to a hospital and later died.
County police chased both vehicles into the city where they then abandoned the chase.
The search continues for the gunman in the first carjacking and accident.
