CAHOKIA, IL. (KMOX) - A Cahokia man who admitted to killing a Centreville police officer was given a 53 year prison sentence Tuesday. Lemuel Houston had pleaded guilty but mentally
ill in the shooting of officer Greg Jonas in 2009.
The officer was shot multiple times in the head and neck during an encounter in Centreville.
Because Houston pleaded mentally ill he received treatment for a year. Houston will be required to serve one-hundred percent of his 53 year sentence.
Houston will be 78 years old at the end of his sentence.
