EDWARDSVILLE (AP) - A university spokesman says a campus police lieutenant with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has been placed on administrative leave after being charged with domestic battery and possessing marijuana.
Media outlets have reported that SIUE police Lt. Charles “Chuck” Thompson was arrested Thursday at his home near Highland. SIUE spokesman Doug McIlhagga says Thompson was put on leave that day.
The 48-year-old has been with the police department 23 years.
Madison County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Mike Dixon says Thompson was arrested after he called police to his home after an argument with his wife. Dixon says Thompson was arrested for pushing his wife and for possessing less than 2.5 grams of marijuana and a pipe.
