EUREKA, Mo. (KMOX) – Some two decades after the last truckloads of dioxin tainted soil were removed, new test results show that Route 66 State Park in Eureka is still safe for visitors and workers.

The EPA tested soil from some 100 locations in the park at the request of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in June of this year.

Using newly developed technology, spokesman Chris Whitley said they found only trace amounts of dioxin in the soil. “They are at levels that do not pose any serious risk for visitors or the people work at the park every day”

Whitley says you could visit the park over 200 times a year without facing a threat.
