ST. LOUIS (AP) – Authorities in St. Louis have identified the person killed in a weekend house fire as a 41-year-old man.
Police tell the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that David Banks died in the blaze early Saturday in a two-family brick flat.
A 25-year-old man remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition. Another victim, a 21-year-old woman, also was injured, though her medical status wasn’t immediately available.
Authorities say a woman and two children who were on the second floor had working smoke alarms and escaped unharmed.
St. Louis fire Capt. Dan Sutter says the blaze appeared to have begun on the first floor around the kitchen.
The fire still is being investigated.
