Funeral Set for Trooper Killed During Traffic Stop

HIGHLAND, Ill. (AP) — Services for an Illinois State Police trooper struck and killed by a tractor-trailer during a traffic stop will be at his alma mater high school.

State Police say 32-year-old motorcycle Trooper Kyle Deatherage died at the scene of the accident shortly after 9 a.m. Monday along Interstate 55 near Litchfield. That’s about 55 miles northeast of St. Louis.

State Police Director Hiram Grau says Deatherage was a married father of two children and had been a trooper since May 2009.

There’s no word on any charges.

Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland says Deatherage’s funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Triad High School in Troy. Visitation will be there from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, then again from 9 a.m. Saturday until service time.
