ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Drivers of electric vehicles now have a place to plug-in at Lambert.
The airport has installed five vehicle charging stations at its Super Park Lot A.
“This is in response to growing demand in the region and specific, direct contact from customers who requested we put those in,” Lambert Spokesman Jeff Lea said. “The demand is going to grow so we’re starting out with five stations and we’ll see how that goes.”
Lea said use of the stations is free when you pay for parking. They are available for short and long-term parkers.
“It accommodates folks who are gone a day or gone a week,” he said. “We have our first vehicle in there, it’s a Chevy Volt, and they’re hooked up to the system, charged, and ready to go for the passenger when they return home.
Meanwhile, Lambert is also applying for a permit to install a public fueling station for vehicles that run on compressed natural gas.
