GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOX) - Granite City Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a car that struck and killed a pedestrian.
Major Jeff Connor says police began getting calls around 7:12 Saturday morning from passerby motorists. He says they reported a female lying motionless in the northbound lanes of Route 3, about a half mile south of the Neidringhaus Avenue intersection.
Connor says the woman was likely struck and killed several hours before her body was found. They also say she may have been in the Brooklyn, Il area around 7:30 p.m. Friday looking for a ride home.
The victim is described as a 50-year-old white female wearing a red jacket and blue jeans. The Madison County coroner’s office is working to confirm her identity.
