HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) — A 9-month-old baby boy is dead, and his mother is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Hazelwood Police say they responded to a hotel on North Lindbergh Monday afternoon and found an unresponsive baby on the floor of a room, and the mother, Brooke Maynard, performing CPR.

The baby, Roman Bell, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m.

Maynard told police she became distracted and accidentally left the son in the bathtub with the water running.

The 24-year-old is initially from Florida and has been staying at the Extended Stay of America Hotel for the last three months.

Wednesday, the St. Louis County Prosecutors Office issued warrants charging Maynard with:Endangering the Welfare of a Child-First Degree and
Murder-Second Degree.

Bond is set at $250,000. Maynard will be held at the St. Louis County Jail.
