ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - Police are requesting stiffer charges against a South County woman who allegedly beat her 92-year-old grandmother because she believed the elderly woman was possessed by demons.
According to a police report, on Nov. 12 Rachel Armstrong was at her home on the 10000 block of Gulf Crest near Sappington when she threw her grandmother to the ground and stomped on her, breaking both of her arms and eight ribs.
Armstrong reportedly explained that her grandmother was a demon and she was attempting to beat it out of her before putting the elderly woman to bed.
She was originally charged with first-degree elderly abuse, jailed on $75,000 bond and forced to undergo a series of psychological tests. But charges are expected to be upgraded after the unidentified grandmother died Sunday from her injuries.
The case is set to go before a grand jury at which time St. Louis County police will present information regarding the elderly woman’s death and ask for the upgraded charges.
