During the month of December, three of the best-loved holiday movies ever made are having special showings at St. Louis’ last remaining single screen theater, The Hi Pointe, now celebrating its 90th anniversary. The Hi Pointe offers the latest in digital projection and sound technology, plus full 3-D capabilities. It is located at 1005 McCausland, near the intersection of McCausland and Clayton Road. All screenings are on Saturdays at 10:30 AM.
On December 8th, the attraction is “The Bells of St. Mary’s.” Bing Crosby plays a Priest assigned to help save a financially troubled grade school. Ingrid Bergman appears as a nun who doesn’t always agree with Crosby’s character’s plans to help the school. The film is directed by Leo McCarey.
December 15, the very popular Frank Capra classic “it’s A Wonderful Life” is the attraction featuring Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore. “It’s A Wonderful Life” is considered by film historians to be one of the best Christmas movies of its era. The movie was released in 1946.
On December 22nd, Bing Crosby appears again starring in “White Christmas.” His co-stars are Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. Admission for each screening is $5. For additional information on the series, click on the link below.
