ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Six months after it happened a bank robbery in south St. Louis appears to be solved.
30-year-old Mitchell Avery Montgomery has been charged as the man who entered the Southern Commercial Bank (7201 S. Broadway) on May 24th wearing a “ninja mask”.
The robber told a clerk he had a gun but did not display a weapon inside the bank.
However, once he had the cash the suspect ran outside and took off his mask.
At that point someone who had followed the man outside approached him, but the suspect then produced a gun and ordered his pursuer to “Back off, man!”.
Montgomery’s fingerprints were lifted from inside the bank and following his arrest he reportedly confessed that he had committed the robbery to pay a debt.
