EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Prosecutors say they will seek a life prison term for a man convicted of sexually attacking two toddlers in southwestern Illinois.

A Madison County jury deliberated six hours Monday before convicting 30-year-old Michael Burgund of Alton of six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.

Burgund was charged in April 2011 after going to Alton police and admitting he sexually assaulted two toddlers beginning in June 2008. The victims at the time were 2 and 3 years old.

Burgund testified last week and denied the allegations.

A sentencing date hasn’t yet been set. Burgund remains jailed in Edwardsville.
