EDWARDSVILLE, IL. (KMOX) - An Alton man faces life in prison for the sexual assault of two children, who are family members.

30 year old Michael Burgund was convicted by a jury in Madison County after a jury deliberated for six hours.

He had been charged with six counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault.  The children he allegedly assaulted were two and three years old at the time.

Prosecutors say they will seek life in prison.  Sentencing is expected in six to eight weeks.
