UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOX) - Police are identifying the preteen boy who was accidentally shot to death in University City Tuesday night.
12-year-old Demetri Phillips was struck in the head when a handgun being held by his friend, also 12 years of age, went off.
It happened around 6 p.m. at a home on Westmont Place.
The gun belonged to the grandfather of the boy who accidentally fired it, who is not being identified.
The boys reportedly found the handgun in an unlocked bedroom.
No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
