NOVELTY, Mo. (AP) – A former St. Louis police officer is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of a man in northeast Missouri.
Glenn Head is accused of killing 67-year-old William Bacon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Bacon called the Knox County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday afternoon, reporting a trespasser on his property near Novelty. About 15 minutes later, the department received a call about a shooting at the same location.
Deputies found Bacon with a bullet wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
According to the patrol, Head said he shot Bacon after an altercation. Head is a graduate of Knox County High School who now lives near Novelty. He was a St. Louis police officer from 1977 to 1988. He is jailed on $250,000 bond.
