UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOX)- As the nation mourns the deaths of twenty schoolchildren in Connecticut, a local school district is mourning the loss of one of its own students.

Demetri Phillips was a sixth-grader at Brittany Woods Middle School in the University City School District.

Phillips’ family and the school district say anyone wanting to make a donation to help pay for the child’s funeral and burial costs can drop off a donation at any Bank of America location.
